India's first OTT awards event is coming back after a successful first season. The OTTplay Awards are a pan-Indian OTT awards ceremony that strives to highlight the most engaging OTT films, shows, actors, and directors from around the country that have kept us engrossed in binge-worthy entertainment throughout the year. The event will take viewers on a thrilling voyage into the fascinating world of India's booming OTT entertainment sector and honour the people who work hard to entertain us throughout the year.

Ahead of the exciting event, which will take place in Mumbai on October 29, 2023, let's take a look at shows nominated in the Best Web Series category at the OTTplay Awards 2023:

Scoop (Netflix):

Karishma Tanna and Harman Baweja are among the stars of the Hansal Mehta-directed, hard-hitting series Scoop. In Scoop, Karishma Tanna plays the leading crime reporter Jagruti Pathak, who makes headlines after being charged with murdering her rival Jaideb Sen (Prosenjit Chatterjee). Behind the Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison, journalist Jigna Vora's memoir, served as the basis for the Netflix series.

Ayali (Zee5):

Produced by S. Kushmavathi’s Estrella Stories and directed by Muthukumar, the eight-episodic series, Ayali, stars Abi Nakshatra, Anumol, Aruvi Madhan, Lingaa, and Singampuli. The patriarchal characteristics of Tamil society and Indian society in general are the series' main subject. Tamizhselvi, a young teenage girl, is the protagonist of the story. She dreams of becoming a doctor and fights the oppressive 500-year-old conventions and traditions that the ladies of Veerappannai village in Pudukkottai are subjected to.

Jubilee (Prime Video):

Jubilee, the series by Vikramaditya Motwane, depicts the tales and aspirations that gave rise to the Hindi film industry. The fictitious 10-part drama stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aparshakti Khurana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sidhant Gupta, Nandish Sandhu, and Ram Kapoor. The screenplay and dialogue for the series are written by Atul Sabharwal. Reliance Entertainment, Phantom Studios, and Andolan Films produced the series.

Modern Love Chennai (Prime Video):

Modern Love Chennai is the third Indian adaptation of the highly regarded original anthology. The makers of the Indian television series released Modern Love Chennai on May 18, joining Modern Love Mumbai and Modern Love Hyderabad. Unique love stories situated in Chennai are featured in the six-episode anthology. It includes the following episodes:

1. Lalagunda Bommaigal, directed by Rajumurugan

2. Imaigal, directed by Balaji Sakthivel

3. Kaadhal Enbadhu Kannula Heart Irukkura Emoji, directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar

4. Margazhi, directed by Akshay Sundher

5. Paravai Kootil Vaazhum Maangal, directed by Bharathiraja

6. Ninaivo Oru Paravai, directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja

Kohrra (Netflix):

The story of Kohrra revolves around an NRI who is found dead in the Punjabi countryside just before his wedding, which prompts a criminal probe. This brings to light the drama, lies, and secrets surrounding the dynamics of a dysfunctional family. The show stars Barun Sobti, Harleen Sethi, Varun Badola, and Manish Chawdhary, among others. It is directed by Randeep Jha.

The eagerly anticipated OTTplay awards ceremony is scheduled for October 29, 2023, in Mumbai.
