After much delay, Ottakomban, starring Suresh Gopi in the lead role, has started rolling. Ottakomban, which marks the 250th film of the actor-politician, is helmed by debutant Mathews Thomas.

The filming began at the Poojapura central jail in the Kerala capital after a small pooja ceremony on Friday, which was attended by the cast and crew. The actor-politician is expected to join filming on December 30, 2024. Notably, this is also the first film project that Suresh Gopi will be working on after he became the Union Minister of State.

Suresh Gopi as Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan in Ottakomban

Suresh Gopi will be playing the lead role of Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan, a fiery character from Pala, in Ottakomban. Indrajith Sukumaran, Vijayaraghavan, Lalu Alex, Chemban Vinod, Johny Antony, Biju Pappan, Meghana Raj, and Suchitra Nair are also part of the film. Several newcomers will also be part of the cast.

The film will trace the journey of Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan as he faces several challenges. Revealing more about the lead character, the makers said that Kuruvachan is also someone who gives a lot of importance to relationships and will be a complete family man. While promising that the film will cater to the expectations of Suresh Gopi fans, the makers of Ottakomban said that the film would be a clean entertainer.

The film will be shot in various locations in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Pala, Erattupetta, Kochi and even Hong Kong.

Ottakomban to have a villain from Bollywood?

The film will be produced under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies. An executive producer of Sree Gokulam Movies said that Ottakomban, made on a big budget, will have top stars from North Indian cinema playing the heroine and the villain. Their names will be revealed soon, he said.

The movie, which was tentatively titled SG250, was announced way back in 2022. There were not many updates since then while reports also said that the actor-politician was awaiting permission to join the project. Suresh Gopi was last seen in Garudan along with Biju Menon.
