Double iSmart becomes OTT Sensation: Ram Pothineni's flop film clocks staggering views in Hindi

Ram Pothineni is a highly talented actor, but unfortunately, he needs a solid hit to make a comeback. After a string of flops, he teamed up with Puri Jagannadh, who previously gave him iSmart Shankar. Their latest film, Double iSmart, also featuring Sanjay Dutt in a key role, turned out to be a massive failure, causing significant financial losses for Puri Jagannadh.

However, Double iSmart has now created a sensation on YouTube. The Hindi-dubbed version has crossed a staggering 100 million views, highlighting the immense craze for Telugu films in the Hindi-dubbing market.

Ram Pothineni's films are a rage in Hindi-dubbing market

This isn't the first time something like this has happened. Eight of Ram Pothineni’s earlier films, dubbed in Hindi, have each surpassed 200 million views—a record no other Telugu hero holds. Among them, the family drama Nenu Sailaja leads with 638 million views, followed by Hello Guru Prema Kosame, which has amassed 584 million views. 

Having more than eight films with over 200 million views each is no small feat and proves Ram's popularity in the Hindi belt. Unfortunately, his original Telugu releases haven’t been performing well at the box office. He has been criticized for choosing weak scripts, such as Skanda, directed by Boyapati Sreenu. Ram was showcased in a very interesting manner but the routine story was panned by the audience.

Ram is now shooting for his next film with director Mahesh Babu P, known for the hit Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty starring Anushka Shetty. Bhagyashree Borse plays the female lead, and the film is being made on a grand scale. It remains to be seen whether this project will mark Ram’s much-needed comeback. Stay tuned for more updates.
