Oscars 2024 is taking place in the Dolby Theatres as we speak. Poor Things has already made a big dent as the movie has already taken home three trophies out of the 11 they have been nominated for. Turns out now is the moment Oppenheimer has now opened its kitty to collect awards and turns out the first one to mark the opening is none other than our very own Iron Man, aka Robert Downey Jr. The actor has walked on the Oscars stage to lift the first-ever Oscar trophy of his life, and there is nothing else that matters more than this to the fans of the star who have rooted for the man.
Robert Downey Jr. played Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer, which also starred Cillian Murphy in the leading part. The movie was directed by Christopher Nolan and went on to be one of the most revered films of last year. But while the movie was applauded, it was also Robert’s performance that made a massive stir on the internet. The love for the man and his caliber touched the ceiling, and their common guess was that there is no way anyone else is getting that Oscar trophy but RDJ.
Turns out that was true as Robert Downey Jr. has now won his first Oscar as he stepped on the stage tonight to lift the trophy. The Iron Man star was competing with ace actors which also included the legendary Robert Di Niro, Ryan Gosling, Mark Ruffalo, and Sterling K. Brown. The actor came on stage and thanked everyone including director Christopher Nolan, his team, wife, and even his stylist who styled him for the glamorous night.
Robert Downey Jr. now has one Oscar and three nominations at the gala night. Over the years, other than the Best Supporting Actor for Oppenheimer, he was also nominated for Best Actor in 1993 for Chaplin and Best Supporting Actor in 2009 for Tropic Thunder.
Over the year, Robert Downey Jr. has given some of the most loved performances. The actor finally got the recognition for Oppenheimer. The movie that is directed by Christopher Nolan has 13 nominations tonight and has also won the Best Editing award as Jennifer Lame walked onto the stage to lift the trophy.
