Oscars 2024 - SS Rajamouli and the team of RRR made India proud on the global map at the 95th Academy Awards. The song Naatu Naatu from Jr NTR and Ram Charan's RRR won Best Original Song at Oscars 2023. A year down the line, the film got a special mention. For those who are unaware, Ryan Gosling and Emily Bunt took center stage at the 96th Academy Awards and honored some of the greatest stunt sequences of cinema, including that of RRR.

RRR's special mention at Oscars 2024

The makers of RRR were delighted to receive a sweet surprise from the Academy as they gave a special mention to the SS Rajamouli directorial. The official X handle of RRR shared a video wherein the film's action sequences were mentioned as a part of the world's greatest stunt sequences in cinema.

"And again, a sweet surprise for us… Glad that TheAcademy included RRRMovie action sequences as part of their tribute to the world’s greatest stunt sequences in cinema (sic)," a tweet by team RRR read.

RRR's Naatu Naatu makes a cameo at the 96th Academy Awards

A year after RRR's song Naatu Naatu won an Oscar award, the track was played at the 96th Academy Awards. It came as a pleasant surprise even to the makers of the Jr NTR and Ram Charan. They shared a video from Oscars 2024 where Naatu Naatu was played on the screen. The clip was shared on the official Instagram page of the film with a caption that read, "On the Oscars stage again!! (sic)."

RRR star cast and release date

Helmed by SS Rajamouli, the star cast of RRR included Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Olivia Morris, and Ray Stevenson among others. The storyline revolved around the fictional tale of two Indian revolutionaries - Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. It shed light on their friendship and fight against the British Raj.

Produced by DVV Entertainment, RRR hit the silver screen on March 25, 2022. It was one of the highest-grossing movies of that year.
