Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Oscar-nominated composer, will not be present at the forthcoming Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater. He announced his decision on Twitter, saying he wouldn't be attending out of prudence after learning that his wife, Vanessa Nadal, has tested positive for COVID-19 lately.

Miranda took to his Twitter page and wrote that his wife tested positive for COVID this weekend and she's doing well. Although his children and he have both tested negative, the actor-filmmaker-composer will not be attending the Oscars tomorrow night out of caution.

Miranda concluded by writing that he is rooting for his Tick, Tick... Boom! and Encanto families as well as his own.

For penning Dos Oruguitas, a ballad from Disney's Encanto, the composer has been nominated for an Academy Award in the category of the best original song.

According to Variety, if Miranda wins over other nominees, including Billie Eilish, Beyonce, Diane Warren, and Van Morrison, he will attain EGOT status, which means he has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony during his career. He'd be the third-youngest person ever.

Tick, Tick, Boom!, Miranda's feature directorial debut, has also been a strong force during awards season. The Netflix musical is up for two Oscar nominations: best actor (Andrew Garfield) and best editing.

Miranda is well known for the Broadway musicals In the Heights (2005) and Hamilton (2015), as well as the Encanto soundtrack (2021). Three Tony Awards, three Grammy Awards, two Laurence Olivier Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, a MacArthur Fellowship Award, a Kennedy Center Honor, and a Pulitzer Prize are among his many achievements.

The ceremony will be broadcast live on ABC on Sunday at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT and at 5:30 am live on Monday, according to IST on Disney+ Hotstar.
