The race to Oscar 2025 nominations has been a wild ride for India that has seen so much drama as multiple Indian language movies have made the cut.

As the 2024 Oscar nominations, hosted by Bowen Yang, Rachel Sennott, Sian Heder, and Eric Roth, unfolded, the world was glued to see who made the cut and who didn’t. While India didn’t have a feature film directly in the running, short films All We Imagine As Light, Santosh, and Anuja represented an Indian connection. Among them, Anuja secured a nomination, while the others fell short. However, the list of nominees is both surprising and historic, with Emilia Pérez bagging 13 nominations and creating history. Backed by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Guneet Monga, Anuja earned a nomination in the Best Live Action Short category. The short film boasts a powerhouse production team, including Suchitra Mattai, Mindy Kaling, Guneet Monga Kapoor, Krushan Naik, Aaron Kopp, Devananda Graves, Michael Graves, Ksheetij Saini, and Alexandra Blaney. Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Anita Bhatia serve as Executive Producers. 

The 2025 Oscar nominations were announced at the Academy’s prestigious Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Emilia Pérez made history as Karla Sofía Gascón became the first transgender woman to receive an acting Oscar nomination. Below is the complete list of nominees for the 2025 Oscars:
