With his last two films, Saudi Vellakka and Operation Java, which are diametrically opposite in terms of tone and narration style, Tharun Moorthy has proved himself to be a filmmaker who likes to take risks. The latest we hear is that the director is teaming up with Binu Pappu for his next project. The script will be penned by Binu, who has also worked with Tharun in his previous movies (name the movies).
The untitled project will have action choreographer Supreme Sundar known for his work in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films. Some of his previous works in Malayalam include Bheeshmaparvam and Ayyappanum Koshiyum.
He is also the man behind the actioner Thallumaala which came with the tagline of 'Eight Songs and Eight Fights.' The fight sequences in Thallumaala were unprecedented in Malayalam films and were lauded for their naturality. Now with Tharun joining hands with the action director, the film is expected to have some thrilling action sequences, which will keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

The debut directorial venture of Tharun, Operation Java, was inspired by real-life cyber crime cases handled by the cyber cell of Kerala Police. The movie was made in the style of Abrid Shine's Action Hero Biju as the story progresses through different cases in the department. The film was appreciated for its realistic depiction of the challenges faced by police officers while dealing with such crimes.
Balu Varghese and Lukman Avaran essayed the lead characters in Operation Java. The movie also featured Binu Pappu, Shine Tom Chacko, Vinayakan, and Irshad. Operation Java had a successful run at the box office despite the pandemic restrictions enforced in theatres.
Following the success of Operation Java, Tharun aimed to depict a story of human emotions and values in his second directorial venture, Saudi Vellakka, which also received recognition at the Kerala State Awards in 2023.
