Open Tee Bioscope: Anindya Chatterjee’s coming-of-age comedy-drama finally makes an entry into digital world

In January 2015, Anindya Chatterjee’s Open Tee Bioscope gave birth to a number of new actors and actresses in the Bengali industry. Produced by Shoojit Sircar, the film also marks a big step up in the entertainment industry for a number of actors and actresses, including Riddhi Sen, Rwitobroto Mukherjee, Surangana Bandyopadhyay, Sohini Sarkar, Ambarish Bhattacharya, and several others. In fact, Anindya debuted as a director with this film. Ritwick Chakraborty, Sudipta Chakraborty, Rajatava Dutta, and others play key characters in the film. 

Besides, a wave of Bengali nostalgia swept over the viewers as the characters celebrate their friendship, teenage crush, and setbacks as they ride their bicycles across the area. Many people, who grew up in the ’90s in Kolkata, took no time to take a joyride to their childhood with this film. The music of the film is still a hit. 

More than eight years of its release, the film is finally coming on an OTT platform. The film will be available on Voot from June 4. Anindya is on cloud nine. “Open Tee Bioscope was my first step as a director. It is very close to my heart. While many of my other films got released on OTT, it was pending. All the team members, including Riddhi, Rwitobroto, and Surangana, used to inquire about the digital release. Finally, it is here. My friends from abroad also used to ask. The release of Voot will make everyone happy,” he said. 

Anindya will watch the film on Voot on Sunday. “This was my first work and I would love to revisit Open Tee Bioscope once again. I plan to watch it tonight,” he said. He took to his social media and posted a long post on the film’s digital release.
