Next week, the second season of the Hulu original, Only Murders in the Building, which streams in India on Disney+Hotstar, draws to a close. The mystery comedy series, which has Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as a murder mystery solving podcast trio, has been created by Steve and Jeff Hoffman. The veteran comedian’s show stands renewed for a third season already, but Steve has said that once Only Murders in The Building winds up, he will probably not take up any new acting assignments.
The 76-year-old does not want to but a definitive full stop to his career that spans nearly six decades, but he has been quoted as telling the Hollywood Reporter, "When this television show is done, I’m not going to seek others. I’m not going to seek other movies. I don’t want to do cameos. This is, weirdly, it."
During the interview, Steve said that prior to Only Murders in the Building, he was at a point in his career at which he was contend doing the live comedy show with good pal and fellow cast member Martin Short. Even the stage show, he added, is something that he would not do without Marty and that it too will run its course when one of them falls ill or wears out, as the case may be.
Meanwhile, Only Murders in the Building has notched up 17 Emmy nominations, including two for Steve for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Only Murders in the Building is about the residents of a New York City apartment and the murders that take place there. The show’s extensive supporting cast includes Nathan Lane, Cara Delevingne, Amy Ryan, James Caverly, Ryan Broussard, among many others.
