One year of Jailer: Where to stream Rajinikanth-Nelson Dilipkumar’s film

Jailer, the action- drama film which starred Rajinikanth in the lead role, has completed one year since its theatrical release. The film opened in theatres on August 10, 2023 and is directed by filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar. If you would like to revisit the film, you can stream it on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium.

One year of Jailer

Starring Rajinikanth in the lead role, Jailer marks the first time the actor collaborated with filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar who is known for his black comedy films. The film is backed by Sun Pictures production banner and has completed one year since release. Jailer is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium.

Jailer boasts an ensemble star cast including actors Ramya Krishnan, Vinayak, Vasanth Ravi, Mirnaa Menon, Yogi Babu and others, with Mohanlal, Shivrajkumar, Jackie Shroff, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunil, and others making cameo appearances. The film revolves around a retired jailer, Muthuvel Pandian, who lives with his family and grandson happily. However, after his police son is kidnapped by a smuggler, the jailer has to resort to being a ruthless cop he once was, to retrieve his son. Jailer opened to positive reception upon its release. The music is scored by Anirudh Ravichander.

Jailer 2 to happen?

As per reports, it is expected that director Nelson Dilipkumar is working on the script of the sequel. Jailer 2 is expected to be called Hukum. It refers to the title of the highly popular song number from Jailer. However, no official announcement on the same has been made yet by the makers. It is believed that if the sequel is indeed on the pipeline, it will be announced on the film’s anniversary.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is working with Sun Pictures and director Lokesh Kanagaraj for a film titled Coolie. The film is under production, with a release date yet to be announced.
