That films are created over years, undergoing numerous changes, is a fact we all know. Casting decisions often shift, locations sometimes change entirely, scenes get added or removed, and there’s so much behind the scenes we’re unaware of. Entire songs are occasionally scrapped, sometimes repurposed for other movies. When such trivia comes to light, it leaves us astonished. One such revelation has surfaced today, and it’s bound to shock you—it turns out the opening lines of a song from Akshay Kumar’s Singh Is Kinng were initially written for a track in Shahid Kapoor’s Jab We Met. However, director Imtiaz Ali and his team rejected it, leading to its inclusion in the Akshay starrer.
For the uninitiated, Jab We Met is written and directed by Imtiaz Ali and stars Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles. The film’s music was composed by Pritam with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. Singh Is Kinng, directed by Anees Bazmee, features Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif. Its music was also composed by Pritam but had lyrics penned by Mayur Puri. Interestingly, the common link between the two films is Pritam, and this trivia pertains to the music.
According to a report in BuzzFeed, the opening music and lines of the song Teri Ore from Singh Is Kinng, sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, were originally composed for Tumse Hi Din from Jab We Met, sung by Mohit Chauhan. The lines, however, didn’t align with Tumse Hi and were subsequently rejected. What Jab We Met lost became Singh Is Kinng’s gain, with the lines finding their place in Teri Ore.

Years ago, Imtiaz Ali revealed to TOI how Mauja Hi Mauja was a song no one initially understood during the film's production. "When we were composing Mauja Hi Mauja, nobody could make sense of it. But Irshad Kamil, being from Punjab, assured us it would be fun," Imtiaz shared.
"A lot of people said they couldn’t understand a single word of it. ‘What is he saying? Why is he saying this? It’s not a Punjabi film.’ But we liked it, and the song was ultimately loved by audiences," Imtiaz added.
