Vinay Rajkumar’s first major release in nearly 4-5 years and his maiden attempt at a rom-com, Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe was a moderate success at the box office, with audiences praising the actor’s choice of films, his acting, and his pairing with both Mallika Singh and Swathishta Krishnan, among others. The Simple Suni directorial, which had not clinched post-theatrical deals before its release, managed to close those a week ago, with Amazon Prime Video picking up the streaming rights and Suvarna getting the satellite rights.
Exclusive! Vinay Rajkumar – Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe is a musical love story that’s fun and relatable
TITLE | DIRECTOR | CAST | STREAMING PLATORM | STREAMING DATE |
Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe | Suni | Vinay Rajkumar, Mallika Singh, Swathishta Krishnan, Rajesh Nataranga, Aruna Balraj | Amazon Prime Video |
At the time, though, Suni was not sure how soon the film would be on the streaming platform. He has now confirmed the streaming date with a social media post that the film is available as of March 19. Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe, which also stars Aruna Balraj, Manjunath, Rajesh Nataranga, Sadhu Kokila, among others, is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Kannada with English subtitles.
The film has Vinay as Athishay, an aspiring music composer from a middle-class family, who works as the assistant to the assistant of music director Sadhu Kokila. Athishay is waiting for the day he gets his big break as composer, but is also keeping his ear to the ground for the girl with the voice that will match the rhythm of his heart.
When he then hears THAT voice and runs towards its source, he sees Madhura (Mallika Singh) and assumes that she is the one who’d sung a few lines from his personal favourite song. But was it really her or is his true love still out there? That is what Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe is about. Speaking to OTTplay, Vinay had said that director Suni and he had wanted to collaborate earlier, but it had not worked out until the script of Ondu Sarala Prema Kathe came along. The family sentiments, romance, comedy and music of this film is what appealed to Vinay.
The actor, who is currently working on Gramayana, a film that had been stalled when the producer passed away and has now been revived, has two films up for release, Pepe and Andondittu Kaala. Suni’s next is Avatara Purusha 2 – Trishankupayanam, which releases on April 5. His film Gatha Vaibhava is still under production.
