Real-life incidents finding cinematic representations is common place and director Dwarki Raghav too sought inspiration from one such tale. Interesting as his choice was, it also meant that it was for a limited audience. The filmmaker picked on the real-life incident of a Bengaluru-based woman, who chopped off her boyfriend’s manhood, after he dumped her and married someone else.

Raghav made a comedy on the subject with Ajay Raj in the lead as playboy Rahul, who ditches his girlfriend to wed a girl chosen by his folks. Rahul, though, is looking at having his cake and eating it too, and hopes to continue his earlier relationship. But then she decides to teach him a costly lesson.

The film released in theatres 3 years ago, with critics citing that Ondu Ghanteya Kathe is replete with adult jokes centring on the protagonist’s missing ‘saman’. They also noted that the film is meant for a particular audience that would not object to the below-the-belt jokes.

The film is finally getting an OTT outing, with Namma Flix picking it up and will begin streaming on July 5. Speaking to the media earlier, Ajay, who plays the lead in Ondu Ghanteya Kathe, said that he was initially sceptical about taking up the role, because it did not gel with his but also felt that it would be artistically challenging to do justice to it, which was something that he was up to. Most importantly, he added that he felt it was important to reach the larger message of the film to a wide audience.
