In the theatrical print of OMG 2, it was announced that the film is set to stream on JioCinema after its theatrical run. However, now Netflix has announced that the Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi-starring social drama is set for its OTT premiere on October 8, 2023. Yami Gautam also plays a crucial role in the Amit Rai-directed movie.

Talking about the Netflix release, Akshay said in a statement, "We are thrilled by the enthusiastic reception OMG 2 has received in theatres! This story deserves to travel far and beyond borders, and we are confident that with Netflix, we will be able to take the film to entertainment lovers around the world. I hope that our labour of love continues to spread joy."

Plot overview of OMG 2:

Everything is wonderful until one day, when Kanti Sharan Mudgal's son Vivek is accused of immoral behaviour and kicked out of school as a consequence. Kanti intends to leave town until a spiritual intervention compels him to seek justice by bringing those responsible to court. Kanti, however, feels overwhelmed by the situation, but justice prevails.

Amid mixed reactions to the film, OMG 2 had a good run at the box office, despite clashing with the mega blockbuster Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol, which released on the same day.

Akshay Kumar's impact!

Earlier, during an exclusive interaction with OTTplay, when Amit was asked about Akshay reviving the box office with the film, the filmmaker said that all of them deserve some of the glory for this. Just as each of those people had their own tale to tell, so does he. The story hasn't even been written by him, so credit by itself can never help a single person.

Amit went on to say that if one goes to the movies, they will notice that everyone is clutching onto a pillar. One could argue that an actor's arrival advances the script in a sense because they are now representing it. He doesn't think the film would have been as successful without Akshay Kumar in it. However, Amit can't promise anyone that they will suddenly transform into the godlike being that Akshay promised. One may write anything down, but these performers are the ones that give it colour and life.
