OMG 2 actor Govind Namdev slams the CBFC for giving the Akshay Kumar starrer an 'A' rating; draws parallels with 'nonsensical' and 'absurd' Adipurush

Govind Namdev, who plays Pujari in the OMG franchise starring Akshay Kumar, is not happy that the Central Board of Film Certification gave OMG 2 an 'A' rating (meaning it is suitable for mature audiences). The actor posted on Facebook that he was disappointed that a film aimed at minors had been given an A rating.

In order to achieve a U/A rating from the CBFC, Govind Namdev, who plays Pujari again in OMG 2, posted a lengthy remark on his Facebook page. He lamented that the movie had received approval despite the censors making 24 changes and the board giving it an inane A, saying, "And the censor has passed it!"

Govind then drew parallels between Adipurush and OMG 2's fight with the CBFC. The June release of Om Raut, a retelling of the Ramayana, was met with widespread criticism for its use of slang and insulting speech, which prompted the filmmakers to make changes.

"What the censor board should have done was apply their stringent measures to films like 'Adipurush,' which are absurd and nonsensical, but instead, they wasted their efforts cutting and censoring a thoughtful and progressive film like 'Oh My God'!" Govind stated this in the Facebook post.

Because sex education is a sensitive topic and because OMG 2 is a film aimed at teenagers, he asked that the CBFC reevaluate its judgement. The veteran actor wrote that it will be a wise step if the Censor corrects its mistake and gives at least a UA certificate to let a positive revolution set in for the betterment of society's teenagers upbringing.

Amit Rai helms the comedy sequel OMG 2 to Umesh Shukla's 2012 film OMG (Oh My God!). Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal, who both acted in the original film, are also co-producing this one. Cast members returning for the sequel include Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Akshay. So far, it has made 80 crore at the domestic box office.
