After finding itself in the midst of controversy, Nalla Samayam is all set to arrive on OTT soon. The Omar Lulu directorial, touted to be a stoner film that deals with the effects drugs have on the youth in the state.

What is Nalla Samayam about?

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, director Omar had revealed that Nalla Samayam was a ‘fun stoner film’ which also had thrilling elements as well. Adding that the makers did not go for a ‘dark route’ when it came to the depiction of drug usage in the film, the director said “We do touch upon the usage of MDMA and that’s how it lends itself to the stoner genre”.

Who are the cast and crew behind Nalla Samayam?

The Omar Lulu directorial features Irshad in the lead role. A number of newcomers including Meera Madhu, Nora Johan, Nandana Sahadevan, Gayathri Shankar and Suha are also featured in the film. In conversation with OTTplay, Omar had said that he had deliberately taken the decision to cast more women in the film, as most stoner films had a predominantly male cast. One of the cast members of the film, Angeline Mariya is also a contestant on the latest season of Bigg Boss Malayalam.

What were the controversies that led to Nalla Samayam being pulled from theatres?

Nalla Samayam had been released in theatres on December 31, but was pulled after a few days following a case that was filed against it for allegedly promoting drug usage. The makers had said that they would take a decision after the legal verdict comes out. The film had further courted controversy after an actor in the film had said that they knew people who used MDMA.

When and where to watch Nalla Samayam on OTT?

Nalla Samayam will be available to stream on Saina Play from April 15 onwards.
