Actress Anikha Surendran’s first Malayalam movie as a heroine, Oh My Darling, is currently streaming online. The movie, which is helmed by debutant Alfred D Samuel, had hit theatres in February and was a much-anticipated OTT release, especially among the young crowd due to the popularity that both its lead actors – Anikha and Melvin – enjoys.
The movie, which released online on May 5, also has Johny Antony, Lena, Fukru, Dain Davis, Mukesh, Manju Pillai, Nandu and Vijayaraghavan in pivotal roles. Scripted by Jineesh K Joy, the movie’s trailer initially piqued curiosity for its visuals that resembled K-Dramas as well as a Korean song rendered by Linda Quero.
What is Oh My Darling about?
The movie, which starts out as a romcom, revolves around youngsters Jenny and Joel. The latter, who leads a carefree life, is forced to re-evaluate his life choices after Jenny reveals she’s pregnant. How the duo tackle the situation for the plot. The film, however, isn’t a straight romcom as it also has several twists in its latter half.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Anikha, who had previously starred in Malayalam movies such as 5 Sundarikal, Bhaskar The Rascal and The Great Father, told us, “When the scriptwriter narrated it to me, he was clear that it wasn’t a realistic movie. It’s very cinematic. He took a lot of effort to describe how the movie would be shot. The movie also has a very important message and an emotional element that the audience would understand when they watch the movie.”
The actress plays the role of a “fun-loving, bubbly” character in the first half of the movie, which was shot within a month and has music composed by Shaan Rahman.
