After Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko and Ajji Medayyil, the producer of Boomerang, opened a can of worms by alleging that actress Samyuktha Menon, who plays the central character in the movie, only wants to promote bigger films, the cast of Anikha Surendran’s upcoming film Oh My Darling recently weighed in on the controversy.
Boomerang’s producer had alleged on Monday that Samyuktha said that she’s now busy with big projects and didn’t have time to promote this film. The actress, we hear, is in fact set to shoot abroad for a big film, which has already set its release date and allotting time for Boomerang’s shoot would mean pushing the schedule and further delaying her current project.
In a press meet recently, the cast of Oh My Darling were also asked about their opinion on actors seeing through their commitment in a movie by also showing up for promotions. Anikha, who is set to debut as a heroine in Malayalam, said, “No matter what film you do, we all put in the equal effort. Even for promotions, there's no distinction between big or small movies; at least I have never looked at it that way.”
Her co-star and veteran actress Manju Pillai also seconded her opinion, saying that each film offers artistes characters and cash. “So, we have to give equal value to every film we do. All of us - from the production boys to the director and producer - put in their best and that's the only way a movie would happen. So, you can't think that you are bigger than someone,” she said.
