Thangalaan, the upcoming film directed by Pa Ranjith and starring actor Vikram in the lead role, is one of the most anticipated films from Tamil cinema. The makers on Friday, confirmed that the film is all set to hit theatres on August 15 for the occasion of Independence Day.
We had earlier reported that Thangalaan will be hitting big screens for August 15. While an official announcement was awaited, the makers on Friday announced it officially that the film will hit theatres for Independence Day weekend. It is to be noted that actor Keerthy Suresh’s Raghu Thatha is also set to release for the Independence Day.
Thangalaan is directed by filmmaker Pa Ranjith marking his first collaboration with actor Vikram. Besides Vikram, the film also stars actors Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, and others. The characters these actors will be playing have been kept under wraps. The film is a period action drama that will explore the Kolar Gold Fields, its origins, and people associated with the place during the beginning. Thangalaan is one of the most expected Tamil films this year, and with notable names associated with the project, it has created further hype.
Thangalaan is backed by Jio Studios, Neelam Productions and Studio Green. The technical crew consists of Tamil Praba serving as the co-writer and Kishor Kumar cranking the camera. Selva RK has worked on the editing of Thangalaan. GV Prakash has scored the music for the film.
The makers had recently released the trailer of the film, revealing how a group of people are being exploited by the British to develop the Kolar Gold Fields. The post theatrical rights of the film has been bagged by Netflix. Thangalaan will be released in Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Meanwhile, Vikram will be next shooting for Veera Dheera Sooran for director SU Arun Kumar. The film also stars Dushara Vijayan, SJ Suryah and others in prominent roles.
