Karthik has been a force to reckon with, primarily as a singer since the early 2000s and has made his mark across a wide range of musical genres - classical, fusion, melodies, dance numbers, to name a few. The musician, who has also forayed into the indie space many years ago, has been selective about his stint as a composer. He debuted as a music director with Aravaan many years ago and went onto compose for projects like Okkadine, Courier Boy Kalyan, Paava Kadhaigal and Navarasa.
While the multi-faceted musician has consistently taken up composing assignments in Tamil, he's returning as a music director in Telugu cinema with Karthikeya 2 actor Nikhil Siddhartha's upcoming project directed by Sudheer Varma. The news was officially confirmed today by production house Sree Venkateswara Cine Chitra, who wished Karthik on his birthday by releasing a special poster.
"Wishing most talented Music 馃幎 director @singer_karthik a very Happy Birthday 馃拹馃巶 and a great year ahead - Team #SVCC32 #HappyBirthdayKarthik," the banner shared across their social media handles. Bvsn Prasad is bankrolling the film written by Srikanth Vissa. Cinematographed by Richard Prasad, the film is being edited by award-winning technician Navin Nooli. Karthik was also one of the three judges for OTT platform aha's music reality show Telugu Indian Idol.
Writer Srikanth Vissa and director Sudheer Varma are simultaneously working on another project - Ravi Teja's courtroom drama Ravanasura. Nikhil and Sudheer Varma had earlier worked together for popular films like Swamy Ra Ra and Keshava. The latter was in the news for directing the action comedy Saakini Daakini, which, after its brief theatrical run, landed on Netflix. Sree Venkateswara Cine Chitra has released multiple projects this year including Bhamakalapam (on aha), Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam (on aha) and Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga (on Netflix).
