From direct to streaming releases such as Loki Season 2 to theatrical blockbusters which would be available for rental such as Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, we’re talking countless hours of quality entertainment – all from the comfort of your couch. For today’s List Hai Toh Hit Hai podcast, we have narrowed down nine upcoming titles to look forward to on streaming platforms this October.

Khufiya - 5th October, Netflix

Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, best known for his compelling adaptations of Bard’s works, Khufiya is a spy thriller starring Tabu, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles. The film is based on Amar Bhushan's novel Escape to Nowhere. The plot revolves around Tabu’s character Krishna Mehra, a spy working for RAW tasked with finding a mole who is allegedly responsible for selling state secrets

Damsel - 13th October, Netflix

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is set to play the lead role in the upcoming Netflix fantasy action film Damsel. Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, the film tells the story of Princess Elodie who marries a handsome Prince. However, the young Princess soon realises that her in-laws have sinister motives. They plan to offer her as a human sacrifice to repay an ancient debt. In order to survive and escape, she must rely on her wit and willpower and circumvent a fire-breathing dragon whom she’s trapped with. The film features an ensemble cast of Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Ray Winstone, and Nick Robinson

Kaala Pani - 18th October, Netflix

The survival drama series Kaala Pani is helmed by Sameer Saxena and Amit Golani, and stars Mona Singh, Ashutosh Gowariker, and Amey Wagh in lead roles. Set in Andaman Nicobar Islands, the series revolves around the plight of a few individuals who are trapped and surrounded thousands of kilometres of the unforgiving ocean.

Loki Season 2 - 6th October, Disney+ Hotstar

The God of Mischief is set to return with British actor Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as the titular character Loki. The second season of the Disney+ original series follows Loki and Morbius travelling through time and space to find Sylvie and fix the timelines fractured by Kang the Conqueror. Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw essay other prominent roles in the Marvel series.

Kushi - 1st October,  Netflix

Vijay Deverakonda stars in this whirlwind Romeo-and-Juliet-style love story. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film tells the story of how two individuals from contrasting ideological backgrounds get married, despite disapproval from their parents. However, their fairytale romance is forced to come to terms with the reality of modern-day social issues. Samantha Ruth Prabhu stars alongside Deverakonda, with Sachin Khedekar, Saranya Ponvannan, and Murali Sharma essaying other prominent roles.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse - 1st October, Netflix

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the sequel to the Academy Award-winning animated film for Best Picture, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, has somehow managed to improve on its predecessor. The story follows Miles Morales as he grapples with the responsibility of being the only Spider-Man in his reality, whilst also struggling to cope with the demands of being a teenager. But when Gwen Stacey returns to warn him about the threat to the multiverse, Miles is compelled to show maturity beyond his years to save all of reality itself. The film stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Jason Schwartzman, Issa Rae, Karan Soni, Daniel Kaluuya, Mahershala Ali, and Oscar Isaac among others in prominent roles.

Gadar 2 - 6th October, ZEE5

Gadar 2, the sequel to the iconic 2001 film, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, smashed box office records, despite mixed reviews from critics. Sunny Deol reprises his role as Tara Singh and Ameesha Patel and Utkarsh Sharma, also return as Sakku and Jeeta from the first film. The plot follows Tara Singh as he finds himself amidst the turn of events triggered by the Indo-Pak war in 1971. When he’s held captive behind enemy lines, his son Jeeta embarks on a daring rescue operation to free Tara from his captors. The Anil Sharma directorial also stars Gaurav Chopra, Manish Wadhwa, and Simrat Kaur in other prominent roles.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One - 11th October, BookMyShow Stream

The seventh installment of the iconic Mission: Impossible franchise features Hollywood action star Tom Cruise returning as IMF agent Ethan Hunt as he attempts to stop yet another adversary who threatens the safety of the entire planet. As one would expect from a Tom Cruise action thriller, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One features death-defying stunts and a gripping story. The film also stars Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, and Pom Klementieff among others in pivotal roles.

The Fall of the House of Usher - 12th October, Netflix

Renowned horror filmmaker Mike Flanagan returns to helm yet another horror series titled The Fall of the House of Usher. The series is based on Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories about the lives of the Usher siblings, Roderick and Madaline, who have amassed considerable wealth through their pharmaceutical company. However, when the heirs to the empire begin to die under mysterious circumstances, the family is forced to confront the dark secrets of their past. Carla Gugino, Bruce Greenwood, Mary McDonnell, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Willa Fitzgerald, and Mark Hamill among others essay prominent roles in the series. Critics have lauded the series according to early reviews and it currently has an approval rating of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
