Like some of us, if you thought that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's grand movie sets, such as the ones shown in Padmaavat or his latest Gangubai Kathiawadi, then you are mistaken!

The film that has been mounted on a whopping 400-crore budget is none other director Ayan Mukerji’s ambitious trilogy, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva.

According to a report by Indian Express, Brahmastra's first instalment, which is slated to release on September 9, was made on a budget of 410 crore INR, thus making it the costliest hindi film to be ever made in Indian history.

Other expensive films, such as the pan-Indian films RRR, 2.0 and Saaho, among others, the second-most expensive Hindi film ever made is YRF’s Thugs of Hindostan, starring Aamir Khan and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles. The action adventure, which was reportedly made on a budget of 310 crore INR, tanked badly at the box office.

According to another report by Bollywood Hungama, Brahmastra‘s 410-crore budget does not even include marketing and publicity expenses. The high cost of production is mainly because of the thorough use of VFX which is an integral part of the film. The report also quoted an insider as saying that the makers are ‘silently confident about the project’.

It took Ayan Mukerji almost a decade to bring Brahmastra to the audience.

The fantasy adventure film revolves around a DJ named Shiva who after emerging as the fire element holds the power to awaken the Brahmastra, the weapon that holds the power to destroy the universe and cause the end of all things. On the other hand, the forces of the dark are also on a quest to get hold of the Brahmastra. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni. Directed and written by Ayan Mukerji, the music is composed by Pritam, who is considered one of the best Music Directors and Composers in India.
