One has to be truly detached from the world to have never heard of John Wick. One of the most successful movie franchises of all time, the Keanu Reeves-led series is among the most lucrative in cinematic history. While it has branched out into spin-offs, OTT shows, and more, fans of the franchise have been fixated on one question: Will there be a John Wick: Chapter 5, and will Keanu return?

Well, considering that Wick supposedly dies at the end of Chapter 4—and we even see his grave—many believed the chances were slim. However, it turns out he is not really dead, as the makers have now confirmed at CinemaCon that Reeves will return for Chapter 5. Not just that, there are a total of three John Wick projects currently in the making. Before Keanu Reeves reprises his role in John Wick: Chapter 5, he will be seen alongside Ana de Armas in Ballerina, set to hit the big screen on June 5, 2025. But that’s not all. During another successful day at CinemaCon, Lionsgate laid out its plans for the coming years.

Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Chad Stahelski, and the rest of the team behind the John Wick films reunited on stage to discuss the franchise’s future. They ended up confirming three new projects. Meanwhile, watch these John Wick action sequences Ft. Keanu Reeves that redefine the action genre in the most brutal way

John Wick: Chapter 5

Keanu Reeves is now officially confirmed to return as Baba Yaga one more time—clearly not dead (unless this turns into a ghost movie). Chad Stahelski will continue as the director, with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee as co-producers.Lionsgate's Adam Fogelson stated, “Keanu, Chad, Basil, and Erica would not return unless they had something truly phenomenal and fresh to say with these characters and this world.”

Iwanyk and Lee added, “It’s so important to get this story right and give John’s journey the proper next step. It’s exciting to take the first step on that road.”

Caine Spin-Off

Just when we thought that was it for the John Wick universe, the makers proved us wrong. A spin-off focusing on Donnie Yen’s Caine is in the works. Caine, who underwent a compelling transformation in John Wick: Chapter 4, will have his own story set after the events of the last film. Donnie Yen himself is set to direct the movie, with The Batman Part II writer Mattson Tomlin penning the screenplay.

Fogelson stated, “From the moment Chad and Donnie pitched the idea of a Donnie Yen-style action film in the mode of John Wick, I was all in. Donnie is not only an incredible, charismatic star but also a smart, cinematic director who knows how to deliver massively entertaining action for a global audience. We’re thrilled that he’s in the director’s chair to tell Caine’s story.”

Yen added, “The John Wick films have set an immensely high standard for action filmmaking, and I greatly appreciate Lionsgate giving me the opportunity to further elevate the franchise. I am both thrilled and deeply inspired to make this happen.”

John Wick Animated Prequel

And that’s still not all! A third project in the works is an animated prequel to the John Wick saga. The franchise has never explored its past in detail, making this project particularly intriguing. Animation veteran Shannon Tindle will direct, while Game of Thrones writer Vanessa Taylor will shape the screenplay.

Fogelson shared, “In both animation and the world of John Wick, the possibilities are endless. And there is no John Wick story fans are clamoring for more than the Impossible Task. Shannon’s take on that story is an incredible one, and we are beyond excited to see what John Wick can do in animation.”

More John Wick Universe Expansions?
