Looks like comedian Norm Macdonald had one final trick up his sleeve. The Canadian funnyman tragically passed away on September 14, 2021, following a long battle with leukemia but ensured that he recorded one final standup special for his dedicated fans. Titled Nothing Special, the special will air on Netflix on May 30th.

According to the recent update shared by Netflix, Norm Macdonald's final standup hour is a result of his insatiable energy and zest for comedy. Despite the battle with cancer that lasted close to nine years, Macdonald kept the illness a secret from his closest friends and colleagues in show business, but continued touring all over the USA and even recorded a ten-episode chat show for Netflix titled Norm Macdonald Has a Show.

Nothing Special is a self-taped product that Norm put together with his long-time production partner Lori Jo Hoekstra. As stated in Netflix's report, both Lori and Norm did not wish for the current version to be the final one but following his tragic passing a few months ago, friends and family wished for the last hurrah to happen through the standup special. The material in Nothing Special was written by Norm Macdonald over time that he intended to perform live for audiences across the globe but the pandemic played a spoilsport - the comedian would then whip up a one-hour special that was completely self-taped at his residence in the summer of 2020. The entire special is said to be shot as a single take, thus enunciating his mastery over the craft.

Nothing Special will also include a special conversation between Adam Sandler, David Spade, David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, David Chappelle, and Molly Shannon that comes as a tribute to their dear friend. The same group of friends was also part of a special tribute that was part of the Netflix is a joke festival.

Known as the "comic's comic", Norm Macdonald is said to be one of the most authentic and original standup comedians of his time. A former Saturday Night Live cast member, Macdonald found tremendous success as the off-beat host of the Weekend Update segment; it was here that the global audience got a taste of his unorthodox, almost dead-pan, brand of humor that would soon find a cult across the globe. Norm Macdonald also became hugely popular for his late-night show appearances and his special rapport with Late Night legends like David Letterman and Conan O'Brien.
