No #Yash19 update; Yash’s big January 24 reveal is a major brand endorsement

In the last few days, social media has been abuzz about a possible update about Rocking Star Yash. The hope, of course, was that it would be something related to his much-anticipated next film, dubbed #Yash19. The least, netizens thought, would be a confirmation about the production house, or, perhaps, announcement of a home production banner for the actor. Turns out, it is none of the above.

Yash is the new face of Pepsi and revealed his first commercial for the soft drink brand as a now viral social media reel, wherein he declares his love for the fizzy beverage. “I love you, Pepsi,” he declares, as he takes a big swig. In a statement released by the brand, Yash had said, “I believe in living life to the fullest, make most of each moment, and follow my passion unabashedly, which is synonymous with Pepsi’s philosophy.”

Thrilled about this collaboration, the Rocking Star’s fans had a Rajinikanth-esque response to this and welcomed Pepsi into his world, instead of the other way around. “Welcome Pepsi to Boss world,” they wrote, while several others added the “Juice Kuditiya” dialogue from Yash’s Masterpiece. Some, however, were also vocal about their disappointment in the choice of brand endorsement, with images of pesticide content in major soft drinks in the market.

Yash’s collaboration with the soft drink major comes 30 years after its first campaign in the country. Over the years, Pepsi’s brand ambassadors have included the likes of Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sachin Tendulkar, Deepika Padukone, Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Virat Kohli, among others. The brand’s other beverages have also had a bevy of high-profile ambassadors, including Mahesh Babu, Ram Charan, Arya, etc. Yash is the first actor from Kannada cinema to clinch such a massive deal. According to reports, the new TV commercial featuring Yash will be out shortly, wherein the actor will be seen in a new avatar.
