Saakini Daakini, the action-comedy is the remake of the Korean film Midnight Runners, starring Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas in the lead. The film jointly produced by Suresh Productions, Guru Films, Kross Pictures is helmed by Sudheer Varma. Ahead of its theatrical release this weekend, the makers hosted a pre-release event in Hyderabad. Nivetha was all praise for her team at the event.
“I’d first heard the script of Saakini Daakini at the same venue and I learnt a lot through the making of the film. I’m now surrounded by people who’ve handheld me in this journey and pushed my limits. It’s the first time that I am associated with a female producer for a film and I hope it’s not the last time. My respect for Sunita Tati only increased by the day,” she said.
“Regina was cast earlier than me in the film and when I heard the script and now saw the final result, I realised no one could have done it better. We have made many wonderful memories with Saakini Daakini. This is a film that could’ve been made with two men too, but the fact that they chose to do it with two women, considering the issues that it tackles, means a lot to me,” Nivetha further added.
Sudheer Varma is one of the finest directors I’ve worked with, the actress mentioned. “I don’t know how good I am with comedy, but in the company of Prudhvi Raj garu, I felt assured.” Crediting Naresh Kumaran, she felt this was a difficult film for any composer to take up . “It discusses serious issues in a hilarious way and it’s not at all easy to come up with a score that balances both aspects - Naresh has done a fabulous job with it.”
“Saakini Daakini’s success is very important for me because its result can inspire many more directors and producers to tell such stories,” she stated. Nivetha said that Telugu audiences have always been encouraging with experiments and hoped that the film resonates with them. “I am grateful to the entire team. There couldn’t have been a better guest for the event than Nandini Reddy. I thank Adivi Sesh for being a part of it.”
