Nivetha-Regina’s upcoming Korean thriller remake titled Saakini Dhaakini

The upcoming Telugu action film starring Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas has been titled as Saakini Dhaakini. The movie, helmed by Sudheer Varma, is the official remake of the Korean action-thriller, Midnight Returns.

The movie is an interesting narrative about two students at a police academy and their acquaintance with a human trafficking gang. The Korean original, which was featured in the year 2017, had two male actors in the lead. Interestingly, the Telugu remake will replace them with two female leads, which are to be performed by Regina and Nivetha. 

Regina, who primarily appears in Tamil and Telugu, is best known for her role in the 2012 Telugu movie Manasulo Sruthi. The same won her the SIIMA Award for the Best Female Debut in Telugu the same year as well. She has also been part of films like Rajathandhiram (Tamil), Mouna Guru (Tamil), and Suryakaanti (Kannada). She also made her Bollywood debut through the 2019 movie Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. 

Meanwhile, Nivetha is a popular face in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu as well. Malayali audiences will not forget her role as a child artist in the 2008 movie Veruthe Oru Bharya, for which she bagged the Kerala State Award for Best Child Artist the same year. She is noted for many of her excellent roles in movies like Chaappa Kurishu (Malayalam), Jilla (Tamil), Papanasam (Tamil), Darbar (Tamil), and Vakeel Saab (Telugu).

Now that both these talented actors are teaming up for an exciting thriller, audiences have set their expectations high. It has also been reported that the Saakini Daakini team have wrapped up their shooting, and are currently in their post-production stage. It is also being buzzed that the makers are planning to release the movie before Sankranthi.
