The 2024 tennis season is coming to an end, with the ATP Finals currently on featuring 8 of the top players of the year. Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Casper Ruud, Daniil Medvedev, Alex De Minaur and Andrey Rublev are the 8 who’ve made it to the tournament, with Andrey getting the last spot after defending champion Novak Djokovic withdrew from the tournament.
The event has the 8 players engaged in three round robin group stage matches each, with the players with the top two in each group proceeding to the knock-off semi-finals. The first set of matches are already underway and here’s how they played out. On November 10, Taylor Fritz took on Dannil Medvedev and defeated the latter in straight sets 6-4 6-3. Jannik Sinner’s match against Alex de Minaur had a similar result, with the World No. 1 emerging victor with a score of 6-3 6-4.
The first major upset of the tournament came in match 3 between French Open and Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud, which went the latter’s way 6-1 7-5. The fourth match of the round-robin tie was between Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev, which the former won 6-4 6-4.
