Following the successful release of Kerala Crime Files on Disney+ Hotstar, the first Malayalam web series, there has been a surge of new web series in the language. Several Mollywood filmmakers are all set to make their debuts in the OTT space. Malayalam comedies, thrillers, social dramas, romance stories and more are slated to be released on various OTT platforms. We have listed some of the most-awaited Malayalam web series that are scheduled to hit OTT platforms soon.
Masterpeace: Disney+ Hotstar
Nithya Menen and Sharaf U Dheen's family satire, Masterpeace, will be available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar starting October 25. The series is helmed by Oru Thekkan Thallu Case's Sreejith and revolves around an unconventional family that is headed by Sharaf's character, who is a struggling businessman. Nithya is a dedicated homemaker. Both of them have conservative parents, which results in a lot of chaos. The series promises laughter and entertainment, along with several other surprises. It has an ensemble cast that includes Shanthi Krishna, Renji Panicker, Ashokan, and Maala Parvathi.
Pharma: Disney+ Hotstar
Nivin Pauly is all set to make his OTT debut with Pharma, a web series that is directed by PR Arun. According to the filmmaker, the story is inspired by hundreds of true stories. Pharma also stars popular Hindi actor Rajit Kapur, who is making a return to the Malayalam industry after over a decade
Sunny Wayne and Nikhila Vimal's untitled web series: Disney+ Hotstar
Actors Sunny Wayne, Nikhila Vimal, and Aju Varghese star in a web series that will be available to stream on Disney+Hotstar. The series, which is produced by E4 Entertainments, is helmed by director Praveen Chandran. The film is set to be a comedy drama however more details regarding the project is yet to be disclosed.
Jai Mahendran: SonyLIV
Jai Mahendran stars Saiju Kurup, who is set to make his OTT debut. Helmed by Srikanth Mohan, the story revolves around a corrupt deputy tehsildar who believes in obtaining things through powerplay and using his influence within the system. The series also stars Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Miya George, Suresh Krishna, Johny Antony, Maniyanpilla Raju, Balachandran Chullikad, Rahul Riji Nair, Vishnu Govindan, and Sidhartha Siva in pivotal roles.
1000+ Babies: Disney+ Hotstar
Bollywood actress Neena Gupta and actor Rahman star in the Malayalam series 1000+ Babies. Directed by Najeem Koya, the release date of the multilingual web series is yet to be announced.
Madhuvidhu: Disney+ Hotstar
Disney+ Hotstar has announced its next web series, Madhuvidhu, starring Suraj Venjaramoodu.The film is set in the 1970s and will be a dark comedy. Nithin Renji Panicker will direct and produce the series, which also stars Shwetha Menon, Kalabhavan Shajon, Prashant Alexander, Grace Antony, Kani Kasumi, Niranjana Anoop, Alfie Panjikaran, and Ammu Abhirami.
