If you’re someone who prefers watching global content, then Playflix is just the platform for you. This weekend, you can watch two new releases: the South Korean drama Summer Strike (in Korean with English subtitles) and the Turkish drama Rüya (in Hindi and Turkish with English subtitles).
Here’s more about them:
Summer Strike (Korean with English subtitles)
Summer Strike is a 2022 Korean drama series that has been adapted from a webtoon. It was nominated for several awards at the LA Web Fest 2023 and won the award for Best Actress – Long Form Series (Kim Seol-hyun).
Summer Strike is about two people. On one hand, there’s Lee Yeo-reum (Kim Seol-hyun), who chooses to be unemployed after quitting her job of 5 years. On the other hand, there is Ahn Dae-beom (Im Si-wan), a mat genius and librarian who declares a life strike. They both leave behind a complex city in search of themselves, only to end up in a strange place.
Rüya (Hindi/Turkish with English subtitles)
Elif Ardali (Hazal Filiz Küçükköse) dreams of being a fashion designer. She meets Bulut Giray (Ceyhun Mengiroglu), who belongs to a wealthy family. They cannot deny that they are drawn to each other and thus begins their love story. But considering that they belong to two very different worlds, Elif and Bulut are forced to meet many obstacles that stand in the way of love.
Will the young, much-in-love couple manage to overcome all their difficulties to stay together? Or will everyone else succeed in keeping them apart?
