Season four of Never Have I Ever follows Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), Netflix's favourite horndog, who aspires to attend an Ivy League university. And that includes crossing off some important achievements, like actually having sex, from her list.
The protagonists, Devi, Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez), and Eleanor (Ramona Young), return on June 8, and the complete season highlights just a few of the milestones they will confront this year. They still have to deal with the ups and downs of friendship, but now they also have to deal with the normal senior year stuff like college applications, prom limo rides, and ultimately wearing a cap and gown.
As the smouldering bad boy Ethan, Michael Cimino (Love, Victor) joins the cast. Creator-friend Lang Fisher joked that this is especially true of a "straight-A dork" like Devi. Fisher earlier told Tudum that there's something undeniably appealing about a person who doesn't give a damn about the rules. And Ethan is quite intrigued by Devi's fiery temper.
During her final year, Devi will learn a lot about herself with the help of Ethan. Fisher thinks the important thing she needs to learn on the show is to love herself just as she is, with or without a lover, with or without a prestigious college. And that she is sufficient.
The fourth and final season of Never Have I Ever closed up a week before Season 3 began, with Devi, Ben (Jaren Lewison), and Paxton (Darren Barnet) walking the halls of Sherman Oaks High for the very last time. It's tough to leave school for good.
Darren said in a statement that it hasn't sunk in for her yet. Days after he said goodbye to the show, he is still waiting for his call time on Monday. As the saying goes, he is scared for when it does.
Maitreyi woke up panicking that she was late for work the day after production wrapped on the last season. To which she said that then she had the biggest deflation of, like, "Right, never mind."
On the final day of filming, the cast and crew celebrated with a full-on funfair, complete with a dancing circle. They served tacos "and dumplings," as Maitreyi and Jaren emphasise. Evidently, the dumplings were tasty.
Darren added that it was amazing, and they played a blooper reel pretty much including everything from Season 1 to Season 4, which really messed him up. Because he is not very good at being emotional when it is expected, he will tell you about the one thing that made him cry. He really doesn't feel anything. They were dismantling the set as he passed through the Sherman Oaks High School corridor. It was deserted. Lessons aren't happening because there are no students. Darren was there with Ben Norris, who portrays Trent, and they were both like, "Wow." They sobbed and comforted one another on the walk back to the trailers. Neither of them anticipated feeling this way. They both broke down in tears, and it was completely insane.
On June 8, all 10 episodes of Season 4 will premiere, and school will resume at Sherman Oaks High.
