The excitement of Kollywood movie buffs hit the roof when news started doing the rounds that Venkat Prabhu is planning a movie which will have both Ajith and Vijay acting together. Though similar news had appeared earlier, too, this time the credibility factor was convincing.

A video clip of Venkat Prabhu's father Gangai Amaren confirming the news became viral in no time. Needless to say, fans of Ajith and Vijay started celebrating the news, though a few of them were not convinced with the news. Many fans of the stars posted the picture of Venkat Prabhu posing for a photo along with Ajith and Vijay which was clicked more than a decade ago at the shooting spot of Mankatha.

However, their joy was short-lived. Venkat Prabhu, who must have come across tweets from movie buffs and fans of the two stars on social media, took to Twitter to express shock with an animated GIF.

Fans started posting Gangai Amaren's video clip in the comment section, and questioned him about the contradiction between father and son's take on it. Though many expressed disappointment, there were those who commented that they were aware of the bleak chances of Ajith and Vijay sharing screen space.

Both of them have acted together in Rajavin Parvaiyile (streaming on YouTube) which was released in 1995. A few years later, both of them were considered rivals at the box office. There have been instances where both their films have clashed on the same day, or during the same festival.

The last time their movies clashed on the same day was in 2014. Ajith's Veeram (streaming on Jio Cinema) directed by Siva and Vijay's Jilla (streaming on Jio Cinema) helmed by Neason released together for Pongal festival.
