Netizens ask Salman Khan to 'look at Shahid Kapoor's Deva' for script, but is the comparison fair?

Shahid Kapoor's Deva released on OTT recently, and it happened to be bang in the middle of Salman Khan's movie Sikandar struggling at the Box Office. Netizens proved that they were impressed by one film over the other, but the real question is whether the comparison between Deva and Sikandar is fair enough.

Netizens praise Deva while bashing Sikandar

Netizens have asked Salman Khan to take lessons from Shahid Kapoor's Deva. This, of course, is in reference to Bhaijaan's latest Eid offering. The Twitter users want Salman to look at the script of Deva before choosing a movie.

The real question - is Deva's script original?

Although netizens have been asking Salman Khan to look at Shahid Kapoor's Deva 'script' for inspiration, the real question is whether Deva's script itself is original. The movie is widely believed to be adapted from 2013's Mumbai Police and thus, comparing Deva to Sikandar (the latter being considered a film made out of AR Murugadoss' scripts at the backburner) might not make much sense.

Can Sikandar be revived at the Box Office?

Sikandar has been constantly struggling at the Box Office. The movie picked up slowly over the initial two days, but it is not Salman Khan's best. Sikandar lost out on opening Friday and Saturday business owing to it being a Sunday release. The movie was further expected to earn Rs. 100 crore by first Friday, but the initial numbers suggest that Sikandar might struggle to even cross Rs. 95 crore despite it being the first Friday for the movie. Of course, whether Sikandar can catch up and cross Rs. 100 crore mark and earn Rs. 200 crore over the weekend, still remains uncertain. Going by the downward trend though, that appears to be highly unlikely.
