Murder Mubarak is Netflix’s upcoming addition to the whodunnit murder mystery genre. Directed by Homi Adajania of Cocktail fame, the film is based on Anuja Chauhan’s 2021 novel 'Club You To Death'. Murder Mubarak is created to transport one to a posh, exclusive recreational club in Delhi, where a murder takes place.
Set to be released on March 15, 2024, Murder Mubarak features a talented and diverse cast, starring the likes of Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Verma, Dimple Kapadia, Karishma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Tisca Chopra and Suhail Nayyar. Netflix and Maddock Films released the character posters for the film today and they are all are equally mesmerising, dramatic, and quirky.
The first poster features Karisma Kapoor in a sleek, golden-green cocktail number, looking chic for an evening party. Her horrified expression and spilt glass of red wine are a clever nod to the film’s murderous premise. The second snap reveals Sara Ali Khan as a glamorous South Delhi princess, bedecked in traditional attire and light jewellery. She held a broken-hand mirror that dripped blood and had a shocked look on her face as deadly shards of glass scattered about.
The third poster identified Pankaj Tripathi as ACP Bhavani Singh, the chief investigator of the case. Donning a police uniform and inquisitively peering through a magnifying glass, Tripathi stood grim-faced. The fourth character poster featured Vijay Verma in a powerful and confident look, flipping cards tinged with blood while holding the Queen of Hearts in his hand and smirking.
All four character posters added further heat and zest to the murder extravaganza.
The rest of the four-character posters were dropped in another post. Dimple Kapadia is an eccentric, drunk artist here, making a drink in her poster. The ruby-red drops are further suggestive of the film’s bloody crisis. Sanjay Kapoor plays a royal mess who may be blue-blooded but not as wise as he pretends to be. In his poster, he is seen wielding a golden gun and cackling a tad crazily.
Tisca Chopra plays a mean girl in Murder Mubarak. As the gossip queen, her character poster reveals a glamorously dressed Chopra dashing to catch her clutch from falling over and spilling makeup products on the floor, almost like her daily habit of spilling secrets and rumours. As for Suhail Nayyar, he portrays a debauched party animal in the film and is seen holding a bloodied lighter with a troubled look.
The film’s premise is fun and refreshing, with seven “off-the-wall" murder suspects, each more peculiar and intriguing than the other. Murder Mubarak follows the burgeoning complexities that envelop a murder investigation in a top recreational club in the capital, with murky clues and multiple lies hiding the truth. As a result, all 7 are suspected and their respective eccentricities end up adding a delicious wacky touch to the humorous and deceptive murder mystery.
