Neru box office – Mohanlal starrer surpasses the lifetime Kerala collections of Mammootty’s Bheeshma Parvam

Neru, the Mohanlal starrer that hit theatres in December 2023, has now emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters in the industry. The courtroom drama helmed by Jeethu Joseph has now emerged as one of the all-time highest-grossing films in Malayalam cinema. Now, when Neru finished its fourth week of release at the box office, the Mohanlal starrer has surpassed the lifetime Kerala collections of Mammootty’s 2022-released blockbuster, Bheeshma Parvam.

Neru surpasses Bheeshma Parvam’s Kerala collections

As per the recent updates, Neru has now emerged as the fifth all-time highest-grossing Malayalam film at the Kerala box office. The movie has reportedly made a total collection of around Rs. 45.20 crore at the Kerala box office. Thus, the movie has surpassed the lifetime collections of Mammootty’s all-time highest-grossing film, Bheeshma Parvam, in the state. For the uninitiated, the Amal Neerad directorial had made a total collection of around Rs. 45 crore within its lifetime run in Kerala.

When it comes to the worldwide box office collections, Neru has reportedly made a total collection of over Rs. 84 crore. If things proceed at the same rate, Mohanlal’s courtroom drama has all the chances to enter the prestigious 90-crore club of Malayalam cinema within its lifetime run at the theatres. The long weekend and upcoming Pongal holiday are expected to favour the film, even though quite a few highly-awaited other-language films have hit the screens.

Will the box-office performance of Neru help Mohanlal’s Malaikottai Vaaliban?

If you are familiar with Malayalam cinema, Mohanlal had a similar comeback to the success track in 2016 with the box office success of a relatively smaller film, Oppam. Within a month after the release of Priyadarshan’s film, the action thriller Pulimurugan hit the screens and emerged as a monstrous box-office success. 

Mohanlal fans and Malayalam film fanatics are hoping that the superstar will once again enter a similar phase in his career, with two back-to-back blockbusters, after the release of his next outing, Malaikottai Vaaliban. For the uninitiated, the Lijo Jose Pellissery directorial is set to hit the big screens on January 25, 2024.
