Tamil movie buffs were curious when a remake of Bollywood film Nenjuku Needhi was announced by Arunraja Kamaraj, who made his directorial debut with Kanaa. Udhayanidhi was roped in to play the lead in the project which has been bankrolled by Boney Kapoor's Bay View Projects, in association with Zee Studios and Romeo Pictures.
The remake version which has slight changes from Anubhav Sinha's Hindi version was released in theatres on May 20. Tanya Ravichandran, Shivani Rajasekhar, Suresh Chakravarty, Aari, Mayilsamy and Ilavarasu among others essay important characters in the movie.
What's Nenjuku Needhi about?
The movie begins with an efficient police officer taking charge in a new jurisdiction. His first case involves the mysterious death of two girls. Upon further investigation, he learns that another girl is missing from the village. He sets out to find details about the deaths and the disappearance of the girl.
Later, he gets the shock of his life when he finds the real reason behind the deaths. Quite annoyed with the horrific caste discrimination rampant in the village, he takes stringent actions against the perpetrators, and hands over related evidences to higher authorities.
When and where to watch Nenjuku Needhi online?
The hard-hitting crime drama is dropping on SonyLIV on June 23. The movie opened to positive response from critics and audiences upon its theatrical release. Dinesh Krishnan has handled cinematography for Nenjuku Needhi while Ruben and Dhibu Ninan Thomas have edited and composed music respectively.
Udhayanidhi himself had distributed the movie across Tamil Nadu under his production house Red Giant Movies. The movie was Boney Kapoor's second release this year after Ajith's action film Valimai. Though Nenjuku Needhi was supposed to release in March, makers postponed their plans as they wanted to avoid clash with Etharkkum Thunindhavan and Radhe Shyam which were also distributed by Udhayanidhi.
