Neha Sharma started acting career in Bollywood back in 2010 with Crook. After featuring in the films, the actress decided to make her debut in 2020 with a web show named Illegal. Helmed by Sahir Raza, the series ticked well with the audience upon its OTT release on a streaming platform. Four years down the line, Neha is returning with the third season of her legal drama, Illegal. Ahead of its release on JioCinema, OTTplay exclusively interviewed Neha, who recalled taking up Illegal back in 2020, the year when OTT emerged as a strong medium at lightning speed.
In an interview with OTTplay, Neha Sharma went down memory lane and recalled her first thoughts about Illegal season one. The actress also revealed the reason she chose to make her OTT debut with this series.
"I feel, at that point, web shows were not a thing. Today, it's such a huge thing. At that time, Illegal was one of the few web shows that were being conceptualised. And I was hungry for the roles where I could do something meaty," she told us.
The actress further mentioned, "When Samar (Khan) and Sahir came, met me and narrated the script, I told them I like it. We were used to hearing movie scripts so I was like this is great. Then they told me it was going to be OTT and that OTT was going to be the next thing. I have never shied away from experimenting but I haven't had so many opportunities. When this came, I wanted to take it and something told me that they would deliver. A lot of people make promises but they don't deliver. But Sahir and Samar felt earnest and I felt this is something I want to do."
Meanwhile, Neha will be reprising her character of advocate Niharika Singh Illegal 3. The actress will be sharing screen space with Neil Bhoopalam, Akshay Oberoi, Piyush Mishra and Satyadeep Misra. The series will drop on JioCinema on May 29, 2024.
