After being available on rent for about two weeks, Neeyat is finally available to Prime Video subscribers. Vidya Balan plays the lead role of detective Mira Rao in the Anu Menon-directed film. The film is set against the backdrop of a castle where an extradited millionaire hosts a birthday party in the presence of his near and dear ones and where his murder takes place. The whodunnit thriller hit the big screen in July this year.
About Neeyat:
When a murder occurs during the birthday party of exiled billionaire Ashish Kapoor (Ram Kapoor), his loved ones naturally become the top suspects. In a mystery where nothing is as it seems and everyone hides a secret or two, CBI officer Mira Rao (Vidya Balan) must use all her skills to uncover the truth.
Neeyat cast:
Along with Vidya and Ram, Neeyat also stars Rahul Bose, Dipannita Sharma, Shashank Arora, Shahana Goswami, Neeraj Kabi, Amrita Puri, Prajakta Koli, Niki Aneja Walia, and Danesh Razvi in supporting roles.
Anu Menon, who directed the film, penned the screenplay with Girvani Dhyani, Advaita Kala, and Priya Venkataraman. While Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment produced the suspense thriller with Amazon Studios.
Here's what Vidya Balan said about Mira Rao:
Earlier, during an interaction with Firstpost, Vidya spoke about her character, saying that she is an actor and she has a lot of questions about the world and how things work, and that's exactly why she does her job. In order to get ready, Anu and the actor read the script together over a bowl of soup during the second lockdown so that she could get a sense of how she envisioned Mira Rao. Even though this character was sketched out in great detail on paper, it's important to get a sense of their arc and development from the filmmaker.
