Malayalam actor Neeraj Madhav had a lot of reasons to rejoice his birthday on March 26. The Family Man actor completed shooting for An Action Hero, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, on Saturday and also took to social media to share the first look poster of his character from Gautam Vasudev Menon’s Tamil film, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu.
The action-thriller, which marks the actor’s first Tamil film, will have Neeraj playing a barber named Sridharan. Neeraj had earlier collaborated with Gautam Vasudev Menon’s home banner for the release of his music video First Love, also featuring Siddharth Menon.
Meanwhile, the actor also shared the news of his debut Bollywood feature film titled An Action Hero, which is touted to be a slick action-entertainer. Directed by Anirudh Iyer, who had worked as an assistant director in Tanu Weds Manu Returns and Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero, the movie is backed by Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions and T-Series.
The shoot of the Bollywood film kicked off in January this year in London. Apart from Ayushmann and Neeraj, the movie also has Jaideep Ahlawat. Ayushmann in an earlier interview had said that the movie had a plot that required it to be shot in big locations in the United Kingdom.
Neeraj, who posted a photo with Ayushmann on his social media page, wrote, “Just finished filming for my first Hindi feature film. Super glad to share screen space with Ayushmann.”
While it’s the Malayalam actor’s first feature film, he had starred as the antagonist Moosa Rehman in the first season of The Family Man and also in the Netflix anthology Feels Like Ishq. The actor is also part of the Malayalam movie Sundari Gardens, which is a feel-good entertainer. Neeraj plays an English teacher in the movie, which has Aparna Balamurali as the female protagonist.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Neeraj had talked about how the role in The Family Man won him pan-Indian attention. “Actually, a lot of opportunities came my way due to The Family Man. I had, in fact, agreed to do a project by Dharma Productions and I was in talks for a couple of other web series too. In 2020, before the pandemic, I was in Mumbai having committed to a few projects,” he said.
