Even before the release of the movie, director Aashiq Abu and the composers of Neelavelicham, Bijibal and Rex Vijayan, have been surprising the audience with its songs. The tracks, which have got a makeover, have already won the hearts of those who grow accustomed to the classic versions and the current generation.

The latest song to release is Pottithakarnna Kinavu, which is rendered by KS Chithra. The soulful track, which was originally written by P Bhaskaran and composed by MS Baburaj for Bhargavi Nilayam, gets a befitting version that has all its emotions intact and further accentuates the pain of its protagonist Bhargavi, essayed by Rima Kallingal in the upcoming movie.

Earlier, the team had released the new versions of Ekanthathayude Mahatheeram, Thamasamenthe Varuvaan and Anuraga Madhuchashakam – all of which featured the visuals from the movie and crossed at least three million views on YouTube.

Neelavelicham, which is based on Vaikom Muhammed Basheer’s eponymous story, revolves around a writer who decides to stay in a house that is believed to be haunted by a woman who died by suicide due to a broken heart. Tovino Thomas essays the role of the writer inspired by Basheer, while Rima and Roshan Mathew essay the couple who were in love but had to part ways due to unexplained circumstances.

The movie also has Shine Tom Chacko, Abhiram Radhakrishnan and Chemban Vinod Jose in pivotal roles. While the movie has supernatural elements, it also progresses as an investigation into what happened to the couple who had to part ways and end their lives.

In a recent interview with Film Companion, Tovino said, “Neelavelicham is not just a horror movie, it has romance and all elements that would appeal to today’s viewers.” The film is set to hit theatres on April 20 as an Eid release.
