Naga Chaitanya, who was seen in the action thriller Custody this May, has commenced working on his next biggie. He’s joining forces with director Chandoo Mondeti for the third time after Premam and Savyasachi. The film has the star playing a fisherman in a story set amidst the coastal Andhra backdrop. Bunny Vas is bankrolling the film under Geetha Arts.
Currently in the pre-production stage, the project has been in the news for the suspense surrounding its female lead. The makers had also interacted with the fishermen community in Srikakulam recently. Yesterday, the team had more or less confirmed that Sai Pallavi has come on board as the lead actress for the prestigious project, tentatively titled NC23. The news was made official today.
“The beautiful and talented @Sai_Pallavi92 joins the voyage of #NC23. Pre-production in full swing. Shoot begins soon,” the production house tweeted, sharing an image of the actress along with Naga Chaitanya, Chandoo Mondeti, Allu Aravind and Bunny Vas. Allu Aravind is also seen handing over the formal contract papers to the actress related to the untitled project.
NC23 is Naga Chaitanya’s second project with Sai Pallavi after Love Story, the romance drama directed by Sekhar Kammula, which was a major success at the box office. The film, whose story is written by Karthik Theeda, is set to go on floors shortly. The cast and crew of the film will be announced soon. After NC23, Chandoo Mondeti is expected to work on Nikhil Siddhartha starrer Karthikeya 3.
In times when most actors try to make hay while the sun shines and sign as many projects as they can, it’s refreshing to notice how confident is Sai Pallavi of her abilities. She has been continuously listening to scripts and other projects over a year and is about to confirm her presence in a couple of interesting films in the coming weeks.
