While the film was formally announced recently, a glimpse of the team’s efforts during the pre-production phase was launched today. In the video, one notices the keenness of Naga Chaitanya, Chandoo Mondeti, Bunny Vas to understand the lifestyle of fisherman in their visit to coastal Andhra Pradesh, where they interact with the locals of K Machilesham village in Srikakulam.
Bunny Vas shares how the director wanted to understand the story of NC23 beyond the official meetings in Hyderabad, paying attention to detail by exploring the atmosphere and the lives of fishermen during the pre-production phase. Director Chandoo Mondeti states they were observing every minute detail of the story during the pre-production.
Naga Chaitanya mentions that they’re in Srikulam to meet the characters in the story, comprehend their body language, decode the village’s texture and the lifestyle of the locals. The glimpse was launched as part of the first of its kind documentary series - The First Cut Documentation. The shoot will officially commence in a few weeks from now.
The team has been working on the script for over 2 years now. NC23 is based on an actual incident in 2018, where the locals had to seek employment in Gujarat and work in fishing boats. Karthik has written a story that’s a mix of fact and fiction. There’s a romance angle to the tale, and the film will be realistic, hard-hitting, the makers promise.
