Nandamuri Balakrishna has quite a sizeable fan following in Karnataka and his films tend to do well in the state. His latest, Bhagavanth Kesari, is coming to theatres on October 19, as a festival presentation. It is, however, not a solo release and is heading into a jam-packed box office with other biggies like Shivarajkumar’s Ghost, Vijay’s Leo, Ravi Teja’s Tiger Nageswara Rao and Tiger Shroff’s Ganpath. Ghost is, obviously, the big Kannada release in the state and Jayanna Films has already managed to get it about a third of the available screens, leaving the rest to be divided among the other four contenders. Leo, it was heard, was getting about 100 screens in Karnataka, and Bhagavanth Kesari’s should also be in a similar range. The first list of theatres that has been released for the Balayya film looks quite limited, though. The film will release in Telugu only.

Advance bookings for the film, which is releasing on October 19, will open on October 16 (Monday), with routine morning shows. As of now, one 4 am show for fans is in the works at the Srinivasa theatre in SG Palya. While Ghost has a 12 am fan show at Santhosh theatre in Gandhinagar, the distributors of Leo are looking at having multiple early morning shows in Bengaluru. But this is yet to be confirmed. It is going to be a tough battle for the films, and based on the buzz surrounding them, Ghost appears to have a clear advantage. Shivarajkumar’s popularity is at an all-time high after his Jailer cameo and the film’s trailer has been well received as well.

Directed by Anil Ravipudi, Bhagavanth Kesari is an action entertainer that also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Sreeleela, Sarath Kumar and Arjun Rampal, among others. The film has music by Thaman, with its digital rights being picked up by Amazon Prime Video. It is believed that it comes in the on or before 30-day deal, so Bhagavanth Kesari will be on the platform by the end of November.
