Nawazuddin Siddiqui was once rejected after his audition, actor narrates tale of ‘failed jugaad’

Nawazuddin Siddiqui might be one of the most talented actors in Bollywood today but he had a long and painful journey before reaching to the stage he is at. The actor was rejected after his audition. He recalled his ‘jugaad’ to bag a role which was a complete failure.

At the trailer launch of Jogira Sara Ra Ra, Nawazuddin revealed the jugaad in his life. He recalled how he went for an audition and failed massively.

“I had done jugaad once. I went for an audition with my photo. When you’re about to get a role, they check your photo. It wasn’t the time of Twitter, Instagram, Facebook. We used to give a photo and resume back then. I had written the resume with hand. I wrote I’m an actor and mentioned all my achievements,” he started.

The actor further shared that he could not open his photo and that led to his rejection. He said, “Now, when it came to showing him my photo, the picture that I had in my pocket, it wouldn’t open. It was folded in a way that when you open it, it would fold again. I somehow opened it and gave it (to the casting director). He saw my photo and asked me to walk out of there. He said that if someone doesn’t even have their photo, what should we do with him?”

Nawazuddin accepted that the jugaad was an epic failure. He further spilled that he tried many jugaad to get roles but almost always failed at it.

Nawazuddin plays the role of Jogi in Jogira Sara Ra Ra. He is a jugaadu who never fails.

The movie, co-starring Neha Sharma, Mahaakshay Chakraborty and Sanjay Mishra among others, is heading for a theatrical release. It will be out on May 12, 2023.
