During the trailer release of Nodidavaru Enantare, leading man Naveen Shankar spoke about what drew him to playing Siddharth and what they are trying to tell through his journey of self-discovery.

Nodidavaru Enantare, directed by Kuldeep Cariappa, which is set for release on January 31, is a film that its leading man Naveen Shankar took up a few years ago. The film follows his character Siddharth’s journey of self-discovery and takes him across 13 districts of Karnataka and some parts of Maharashtra too. At the time, Naveen was doing another film called Hondisi Bareyiri, in which his character Ranjith also goes on a journey to seek answers to certain existential questions.

So, when Kuldeep narrated his script, Naveen did, at first, think that there was a similarity between the two films. “But then I realized that Nodidavaru Enantare is an evolved version of what was in Hondisi Bareyiri. Ranjith’s (his character in Hondisi Bareyiri) life is entirely different from Siddharth’s. Most importantly, though, the characters in the film, the perspectives that Kuldeep was trying to establish through them and the life lessons that come up through the journey of the protagonist, struck a chord with me. That’s why I went ahead and did the film, despite the minor resemblance to Hondisi Bareyiri,” said Naveen, speaking at the film’s trailer launch.
Once he did the film, Naveen realized that Nodidavaru Enantare and Hondisi Bareyiri are vastly different movies, so whatever initial skepticism he had was totally unfounded. The film demanded a physical and emotional journey and transformation, which is also a highlight that inspired the actor to do the role.
In a recent interview, Kuldeep revealed that Naveen’s extreme body transformation for which he shed a lot of weight, had an unforeseen outcome. While Naveen managed to sport a severely emaciated frame for a portion of the film, only a day before said shoot, he suffered a mild heart attack owing to his dietary regimen. The actor stuck to his diet during his recuperation and broke it only after the necessary shots were canned.
