The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, honored the top performances of the year in Indian film at the 69th National Film Awards event held in New Delhi today (October 17).
Allu Arjun won Best Actor for Pushpa, while director Karan Johar was recognized for his patriotic biographical film Shershaah. In the Best Feature Film category, R Madhavan's Rocketry: The Nambi Effect took first place. Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon shared the award for the best actress for their films Gangubai Kathiawali and Mimi, respectively. The legendary Waheeda Rahman received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious occasion.

While accepting her award, Waheeda Rehman got teary-eyed. She said in her acceptance speech: "I feel honoured and very humbled. But today where I stand, it's all because of the lovely industry I have been a part of. Luckily, I got an opportunity to work with top directors, producers, filmmakers, technicians and music directors, who supported me and showered me with lots of love and respect."
