The National Film Awards 2023 we're just announced but there isn't much cause for celebration for Mollywood. The wins included Home, Nayattu, and Aavasavyuham.
After the announcement of the awards, Malayalam film producer G Suresh Kumar, who was a jury member this year, said that technically-rich Malayalam movies reached the final stages of the awards this year. He added that he is sad that only eight Malayalam films made it to the final round and speculated that it might be due to the pandemic.
"The final stage of the awards saw 8 Malayalam films being considered for awards. Joju George and Indrans were nominated for Best Supporting Actor and reached the last round, but there were better performances in that category. South Indian films have matched Bollywood when it comes to technical richness. Quality films like Minnal Murali, Nayattu, Aavasavyuham, and Meppadiyan made it to the final round," G Suresh Kumar told Asianet News.
Speaking about RRR and its achievement, he added, "I don't think RRR was given the award for the Best Music Director due to its achievement at the Oscars. I think a lot of factors were considered other than that before giving the award."
Home, Nayattu, Meppadiyan and Aavasavyuham bag National awards
