Naslen's Alappuzha Gymkhana Vs Mohanlal's L2 Empuraan: A heavyweight clash in March 2025?

Malayalam cinema is all set to have an exciting year in 2025, with some highly promising films gearing up for their releases. Naslen K Gafoor and director Khalid Rahman recently revealed the first look poster of their upcoming project, Alappuzha Gymkhana. As per the recent updates, the action-drama film is reportedly gearing up to clash with L2 Empuraan, the most anticipated upcoming project which marks the third collaboration of Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran, at the box office.

Naslen’s Alappuzha Gymkhana vs Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan at the box office?

If the recent updates are to be believed, Alappuzha Gymkhana, which is now nearing the final stages of its filming, has been slated to hit the theatres by the first quarter of 2025. According to the grapevine, director Khalid Rahman and his team are planning to release the Naslen starrer by the end of March 2024. In that case, the project might have a heavyweight clash with Malayalam cinema’s biggest upcoming project L2 Empuraan, which stars Mohanlal in the lead role.

As reported earlier, director Prithviraj Sukumaran and his team are keen to release the mega-budget venture on March 28, 2024. The team is planning to finalise this date, as the first installment of the franchise, the blockbuster film Lucifer, was released on the same day in 2019. Even though the makers have not officially confirmed these reports yet, the L2 Empuraan crew members dropped hints on the same in some of their recent interviews.

Well, the recent updates suggest that the Mohanlal might not have a world-wide solo release as planned earlier. If Alappuzha Gymkhana gets released on the same day, the Malayalam cinema audiences will get to witness a high voltage clash between the biggest crowdpuller of the industry, and one of the most promising young stars in the block. The makers of both the films are expected to officially announce the release date, once they wrap the filming of both the projects.
