Naseeruddin Shah, a veteran actor, recently discussed the overt display of masculinity in movies and confessed he couldn't watch movies like RRR and Pushpa: The Rise. Additionally, he expressed doubt about the benefits of seeing such movies and stated he wouldn't.

In relation to movies like Kabir Singh, Naseeruddin Shah was questioned about people's obsession with hypermasculinity. In a Be A Man Yaar episode, the senior actor said that men's insecurity is growing, which is why hypermasculinity is being highlighted. With the Marvel Universe, it's happening even in America. He claimed that the same is true for Indian movies, but he added that audiences also seemed to enjoy movies like A Wednesday. “The acceptance of smaller films, those made by Anurag like Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, Gulmohar will find its place. I'm pretty sure because I have great faith in younger generation,” he added.

Additionally, he expressed surprise that people watch movies that celebrate hypermasculinity for anything other than fun. He said, “Maine RRR, Pushpa dekhne ki koshish ki, mujhse dekhi nahi gayi". He added that because Mani Ratnam is a renowned director without a preconceived notion, he did watch Ponniyin Selvan. The vetera actor said that he cannot imagine what people get from watching these films and he would never watch them. He also addressed the issue of women loving RRR in a different section of the same interview and remarked, "I don't know how many women liked RRR."
